Yesterday, when the mail came we gave Sarah Lu an extra letter because she always enjoys having a little mail to open up while mom does the same thing. Well, yesterday, once we gave it to her, she went over to Mom and "read it" telling her that it said, "The Long Way Home".
The rest of Mom's and Sarah's conversation went something like this:
mom: "Sarah Lu, where is home?"
SL: "I'm home!...Remember when I was in China and I didn't want to come home? I didn't want to come home with Mommy!"
mom: (Oh, yes, we remember that!) "We had to go to China to bring you home. Mommy waited so long and I looked and looked for you, and finally we were able to go to China and bring you home!"
SL:"Swiper came and put me in China! and he said "Haha, They'll never find you now!" and Lu Hua was all alone with no Mommy and Daddy!"

"Swiper" is a fox on the Nick Jr. show "Dora the Explorer". He is always "swiping" things from Dora and her friends. In the show they have to say: "Swiper, No swiping! Swiper, No swiping! Swiper, No swiping!" But if they don't say it, Swiper takes whatever it is and hides it, Dora then has to go find it.
It's interesting how Sarah is piecing her story together. She's already trying to figure out why mom was gone for those first two years. In her mind the only thing she can make sense of is that somehow, Swiper must have taken her and put her in China...She remembers being in China, and talks about it all the time, she misses all her friends there, and likes to tell us about them. We know that Sarah was deeply, deeply loved in China, and that's why she is so far advanced for her age. We are eternally grateful to all those who loved her, while we could not have her. She likes to pretend sometimes that she is going to China. Still, she always looks for the reassurance that her mommy and daddy aren't going anywhere!
No, Sarah Lu, you are NEVER going anywhere. You are always gonna stay with your mommy, daddy, and jie-jies. You are HOME. And yes, it was, "The Long Way Home."

As you can tell from her conversation, she is a VERY smart little girl!! Sarah has just been home 4 1/2 months and will be 3 years old in another 2 months. What a smart little girl my mei mei is!
