Christmas was such a great day! Celebrating with Sarah Lu is definitely the best!! She was so excited over each and every present and kept exclaiming "I can't believe" and "This is JUST what I wanted!". It was the sweetest thing ever!! It was a very "princess-ey" Christmas for our little princess. She got: a Disney Princess Pajama dress (which she opened on Christmas Eve so that she could wear it on Christmas morning); a Disney's Enchanted Vanity Table, complete with brushes, a pretend (but makes noise) hair dryer, curlers, etc. from Me, Rachael, and Chrissy; A Disney Princess magna doodle and learn to draw book from Me; My Little Pony; Barbie's Island Princess Kelly Doll and Elephant; My Littlest Pet Shop board game; Barbie's Princess and the Pauper DVD; A Maltese Puppy Purse; and, her 'Mommy Make Me Better' Chou Chou Baby Doll with Doctor kit. We kept asking Sarah, "What is Christmas?" and she will now say "Jesus' B-irt-day"! It was such an awesome Christmas... and not the presents, but more just seeing Sarah and experiencing Christmas with her. The joy that she has over everything is just so perfect and contagious... I just love this girl so much! I am so lucky to be (one of) her Jie Jie's!

Our tree and all the presents... Can you spot the true gift? ;)

My Sarah and Me!

"I can't believe!!!!"

She is so thrilled with her Princess Giselle vanity... It is definitely a huge hit!

When we went to the Disney store, she LOVED it and stayed at the display one just playing with it forever, so, us big sisters knew it was time to get it for her for Christmas!

Sarah picked out a present for Mommy herself, and when we asked her what she wanted it to say on the "card", she told us the above words for her Mommy's present. How sweet is that?
"Look Mommy! For you, from me!!!"

And... her baby!! Wow, does she ever love this baby! Ever since she got it, it has been with her almost constantly. :)

This picture was taken December 2005, while Sarah Lu was still in China. Her first two Christmas's were spent alone and waiting as an orphan.
Now, she is home and she has her forever family.

"Merry Christmas" by Third Day

There's a little girl trembling on a cold December morn

Crying for mama's arms

At an orphanage just outside a little China town
Where the forgotten are

But half a world away I hang the stockings by the fire

And dream about the day when I can finally call you mine

It's Christmas time again but you're not home

Your family is here and yet you're somewhere else alone

So tonight I pray that God will come and hold you in His arms

And tell you from my heart
I wish you Merry Christmas

As I hang the tinsel on the tree and watch the twinkling lights

I'm warmed by the fire's glow

Outside the children tumble in a wonderland of white

And make angels in the snow

But half a world away you try you best to fight the tears

And hope that Heaven's Angels come to carry you here

Christmas is the time we celebrate the Holy Child

And we celebrate His perfect gift of love

He came to Earth to give His life and prepare a place for us

So we could have a home with Him above

It's Christmas time again and now you're home
Your family is here so you will never be alone

So tonight before you go to sleep, I'll hold you in my arms

And tell you from my heart
I'll tell you from my heart I wish you Merry Christmas

"All I Really Want For Christmas" by Steven Curtis Chapman

Well I don’t know if you remember me or not

I’m one of the kids they brought in from the home

I was the red-haired boy in an old green flannel shirt
You may not have seen me – I was standing off alone

I didn’t come and talk to you, ‘cause that’s never worked before

And you’ll prob’ly never see this letter anyway

But just in case there’s something you can do to help me out

I’ll ask you one more time

All I really want for Christmas

Is someone to tuck me in

A shoulder to cry on if I lose

Shoulders to ride on if I win

There’s so much I could ask for

But there’s just one thing I need

All I really want for Christmas is a family

Well I guess I should go ahead and tell you now

If it’s really true about that list you have

Somehow I always seem to end up in a fight

But I’m really trying hard not to be bad

But maybe if I had a brother or a dad to wrestle with

Well, maybe they could teach me how to get along

And from everything I’ve heard

Sounds like the greatest gift on earth would be a mom

All I really want for Christmas
Is someone to tuck me in

A shoulder to cry on if I lose

Shoulders to ride on if I win

There’s so much I could ask for

But there’s just one thing I need

All I really want for Christmas

Is someone who’ll be there

To sing me “Happy Birthday”

For the next 100 years

And it’s OK if they’re not perfect

Well, even if they’re a little broken,
that’s alright
‘Cause so am I
Well, I guess I should go

It’s almost time for bed

And maybe next time I write you

I’ll be at home

‘Cause all I really want for Christmas

Is someone to tuck me in

Tell me I’ll never be alone

Someone whose love will never end

Of all that I could ask for

Well, there’s just one thing I need

All I really want for Christmas

All I really want for Christmas is a family

Just a family

That’s all I really need

This Christmas, Let's remember the orphans, the children left behind.
There are 143 million orphans around the world today, just waiting...
What will you do about it?

December 24, 2006: Christmas Eve, Two Days Home

At this time last year, it was just so amazing. On the night of December 22nd, 2006 we finally came home and became a family of six. It is awesome to see how much Sarah has changed this past year! She is such a great girl! I remember our first Christmas Eve with Sarah, it was the first time we took her out anywhere (we went to church) and she was able to meet some of the people who had been anxiously waiting for that moment. THIS was one year ago.

Yesterday was Rachael's 22nd Birthday!
It was Rachael's first time celebrating it with Sarah!
Sarah Lu helped Rachael open her presents!

Sarah had so much fun celebrating Rachael's birthday, for the last week or so Sarah has been anticipationg it for a while, she has sung 'Happy Birthday Rachael' for these last few days! Sarah helped Rachael open every present, and told Rachael "we is sharing this birthday, it is we's (pointing at herself and Rachael) it is we's birthday." Sarah was definitely the center of attention once Rachael's friends came over. She loved having all the extra attention! ;)
The video below is one of the presents I gave Rachael, I have been working on it for a while, it is of Rachael's Europe trip this last summer. I had lots of fun making it! Hope you watch it and enjoy!

All the little girl's and their masterpieces

Sarah, Allison, Carrigan, and another little girl

This last Sunday we had our FCC (Families with Children from China) Gingerbread House Making Party. We all had a very fun time. Sarah Lu loved making her very 1st Gingerbread house (and eating the candy!) and afterwards loved playing with her friends! They were all so cute together! :)
